Students watch morning announcements

Morning announcements at the elementary have gone to video. While daily announcements have been a staple at the elementary, the video format allows students to see Principal Gilbert and a team of their peers lead the building in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Crestview Elementary building mission statement, followed by the day's PBIS celebrations and news.

The project got underway this month. 4th Grade teacher, Mrs. McFarland, led the effort and is working with a small group of 4th grade students and Crestview's Director of Instructional Technology, Mr. Lemon, to create a daily student production team who will assume an increasing role in the behind-the-scenes routines. The elementary joins the middle and high schools in using video media for morning announcements.

Teachers report that students in the classroom are more attentive to the morning announcements and enjoy watching for familiar students and siblings on the screen.

There are no plans at this time to make elementary video announcements available to the public for viewing. This is in order to ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate while respecting the permissions set by families and legal guardians for the public display of their child's image.
