WinterFest Was a Major Success

Crestview elementary school held WinterFest on Saturday Feb. 10th. The event took place in the elementary school, there were different activities that families from Crestview can do all around the school. Several faculty members  including Molly Henderson, Molli Hulit, Abbie Spencer, Robin Hawkins, Ally Grau, and Chris Gilbert were in charge of making WinterFest happen.

WinterFest is held every two years, this year there were more than 200 parents and students that enjoyed the event. The event has been a tradition at Crestview elementary school for years now. Families were so eager for the return of WinterFest that many parents donated items and helped work the event to make it run smoothly.

“We had a wonderful family turnout this year, and this event gives us an opportunity to talk and connect with students and their families on a different level. We also had several parent volunteers we are very thankful for that helped run different stations. It is always wonderful to see our staff and families working together to make a difference for our students,” said Principal Chris Gilbert.

The event held many different activities such as arts and crafts, students and family members were able to make a bird feeder, draw amazing pictures, and make snowman cotton ball launchers. There were also some fun and creative games the students and their family members were able to participate in such as balloon tennis, a penguin slide, Bingo, and a fun winter themed scavenger hunt.

“We rarely get to see how kids interact with their families, and it is so neat to see their excitement to show their family members around the school and play games with their teachers,” said Molly Henderson who has been a part of the WinterFest organization  since the start of it in 2016.

While it still felt like it was December outside, students and their families were able to enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate and enjoy some nice snacks such as freshly popped popcorn. There were also raffles that had some pretty sweet prizes families could win.

Crestview elementary school had a fun time getting back into the Christmas spirit with WinterFest. It was a great success and gave the students and their families a fun time and relaxing time together. The elementary school hopes to hold their next WinterFest in the 2025-2026 calendar year.
